Artist History Undertow's founding members - Andy and Rowan - got together in July 2000 with ideas of starting a new rock band with a classic 'double guitar' rock feel. With influences like GNR, AC/DC, Nirvana, The Beatles, David Bowie, Queen, and of course Metallica, they aimed to be an aggressive, energetic rock band focused on strong, dynamic song writing. Bass guitarist "Brain" joined the group in December 2000, with drummer Todd following shortly after in February 2001. After trying to find the right vocalist without success, Undertow decided to just get some of their material recorded, and in and unusual move made the instrumental album "Layers".
