Group Members
Michael James Zimmerman plays guitar and sings for Small Revolutions. He is a composer of modern music and has performed professionally for 10 years. Michael also has two albums: "Move" under MFG Records and "21st Century Music, Volume1" under Edison West Productions. He also plays percussion, trap set, Native American flutes, piano, and midi sequencers.
Savoy Basurto was born in Hollywood, CA. He started playing percussion, trap set, and flute as a teenager. Savoy is a magician as well as a musician performing around the world in venues ranging from giant stages with dancers and bands to solo performances for primitive tribes in Fiji. He has performed for many groups including Hidden Agenda and The Legends.
Ian Finneran is our boy wonder on bass. Ian started playing trumpet at 12, but switched to the bass when he decided to devote his life to music by age 15. Ian’s first public performance was with his middle school jazz band at the Eugene Hult Center. Concurrent with high school, Ian went on to play with a local band called Murton Smurl, and the Foxfire house band, which is where we found Ian and immediately recruited him for Small Revolutions. Ian is currently a music major at the University of Oregon. No doubt, given his natural talent, driving dedication, and amazingly steep learning curve, this is the beginning of what will be a blazing music career. Ian plays upright bass and 4 and 5 string electric bass guitars. He may be young but in his case this only means he will wow us for many years to come.
Patrick Dodd is our singer/songwriter and rythm guitarist. Once or twice a generation comes a performer whose voice is so clear, passion for justice so unwavering, and creative talent such that their music has the capacity to inspire audiences widely enough to become “controversial.” Singer/Songwriter Patrick Dodd, the creative force behind folk/rock band Small Revolutions, is such a performer. Patrick is a true poet who shares more than mere songs; he shares experiences, feelings, and passions. Patrick Dodd is a native of the mid-west and has traveled the highway and back roads of America for most of his life. It is that highway, the people along the way and their stories that are retold in Patrick’s music. One fan referred Patrick’s music as, “… the contemporary people’s history of America set to music.” This is what connects Patrick Dodd and his audience. He reaches out and touches his audience like few performers. Patrick returns American folk music to its political roots. Bumming around the country from the cornfields of Kansas to the mountains of Colorado to the valley of the green Willamette, singing in coffeehouses, around campfires, and on the rickety stages of the ongoing Revolutions,..Dodd has followed in Woody's footsteps... (What's Happening 10 4-90) When Patrick begins writing, performing, and speaking on behalf of a cause his music gives voice to the alienated and oppressed directly and indirectly. His music empowers the oppressed to speak, and inspires those more privileged to listen with their hearts open. Patrick’s songs educate while entertaining his audiences. Patrick has been honored by groups as varied as the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D. C., which chose to include his song Militant Response (Take Back the Night), and the Homeless Hall of Fame in Chicago Ill., who honored his work both as an artist and an activist on behalf of the homeless. But Patrick is also a polished performer who has spent thirty years of his life on stages. His songs have been heard at folk festivals and coffee houses across the country. After several solo recordings (Soil of Desperation, Provocateur, Prayers From the Rubble, and Crimes Against the State), Patrick is now in the process of recording his next C.D. Up In Arms, with “Small Revolutions” to be released latter this year. |
