Artist History
So we'll start at the beggining. The two original members of Seven Day Descent, Dave and Matt, became aquainted at a local hardcore/metal(Absolve, Calyx In Ruin, Barium) show in Turners Falls. It was June 16th, and was soon turned into more than a friendship. After the show the two exchanged thoughts about jamming together, but nothing serious. It wasn't until September that the first jams began to happen, and Seven Day Descent began to shape itself. It began with two guitars, but soon after realizing the obvious need for a vocalist, and the fact that Dave was the better guitar player, Matt moved to vocals, and Dave became lead guitar.
It was about this time that Dave mentioned his dad played bass. Without hesitation the band began playing with Michael in their new found pratice space, Matt's barn. Songs like "Scream These Words", "Thorns and Daggers", "Martyr not Hero", and the now defunked "No Such Thing As A Rock Star" were written here, but once winter began to approach, we realized that'd we'd need someplace warm to pratice, considering numb fingers dont work well for guitar playing.
We tried out Dave's studio, and declared it the new pratice space. At about this time, we began our long search for a drummer. Dave, who was then in the local grundge/punk band A Boy Named Pip, suggested trying Mikey from ABNP as drummer. After the first few pratices, we asked Mikey to join, and all seemed to be going well. Shows started being booked, and thoughts of recording floated through everyones minds. The material was also starting to pick up at this point, and was sounding much better than before with the new addition. However, this was short lived, due to the combination of schedule clashes, musical differences, and ADD we were left with no other option than parting ways with Mikey.
Now with no drummer, cancelled shows, and thoughts of recording put on hold, things weren't looking so good. We decided to continue our initial search for a drummer, praying we'd find someone who we'd mesh with and was loyal enough to stick around. We tried a few drummers, but nothing seemed to be clicking. With low hopes of finding the right drummer, discussions of recording a demo on our own began to seem like the only way to get our music out there. That is, until the reunion show of Calyx In Ruin. Dave and Matt headed down to the show, hoping to be able to rock out, but wishing to be the ones onstage. During the set, Jay of Calyx In Ruin announced that two kids in the front (Dave and Matt) were in a band called Seven Day Descent, and were looking for a drummer. That was the night they met Brandon, who approached them after the show. After an exchange of numbers/web addresses, they went home for the night. Within the next few days a few pratices were arranged, and after the second, everyone knew Brandon had to be in the band. This brings us to now, a new rejuvinated Seven Day Descent, with a hope for the future, and a readiness to get music out there.
We can only predict what will happen next, but damn it's gonna feel good to rock.
