Artist History Self Service formed in May of 2001 as high school freshmen. They spent that first summer writing music and enjoying the process of becoming bandmates. Starting in the fall of 2001, Self Service began playing shows in and around the north side of Indianapolis. After gaining a local following and playing an increasing number of shows, the next logical step for the band was to record an album. During the summer of 2002, Self Service recorded their first CD, "Do It Yourself Or Not All." Released on October 4, 2002, it immediately became a hot commodity at their shows. To support the album, Self Service began playing with bands such as Haste The Day, The Bowels of Judas, My Hotel Year, Jeremiah's Grotto, and local rockers Jim Fix. Right now, they are in the process of recording more tracks to be used for an upcoming second album.
