Artist description
Picture this: A sold out concert full to capacity with a melting pot of people. The crowd is screaming at the top of their lungs, as they wait anxiously for the main event. Suddenly, the lights flash on and off to the thunderous percussive New York style HARD House beats with pulsating Latin rhythms. The crowd is now jumping up and down in frenzy. All of a sudden you hear the lyrical flow of the rappers with catchy chants and hooks that everyone seems to know as if it were their own. The whole crowd is singing along to every word. THIS IS LA JARA.
LA JARA is J Hova, Ray Duro, Nino & Devon. In a recent interview with Phil Turnipseed of DJ TIMES Magazine, Ray Duro said, Growing up in Washington Heights NY, listening and dancing to Merengue & Hip Hop is what influenced me to get into this style of music. Devon Talbert born in Belize and also raised in the heights says, With our combined talents, we give a new flavor to today’s Merengue market.
LA JARA has already caught the eyes of many industry people. Devon formerly of the original group Skin Deep on Freeze records has had a taste of success. His single Boom, Boom became a huge underground dance hit selling over 10,000 units. Ray Duro has represented New York’s La Mega 97.9 FM in an East Coast vs. West Coast rap contest and won. They have both performed in various shows in the United States and have shared the spotlight on stage with Internationally known acts such as 2 In A Room, Quad City DJ’s, Jocelyn Enriquez, El General and No Mercy.
After collaborating on several of each other’s projects with DJ/Producers The Rooster & Ruben Nene Martinez, the boys decided to merge and LA JARA was born. From the moment we heard these cats, we knew they were the bomb! Said Rooster. It was just a matter of them keeping an open mind and letting Nene & myself give them marketable music. I mean not only did we want to produce a group that could be heard on radio, but also a group that I could play to my crowds when I'm DJing. Further on, Nene adds As a booking agent, I have been studying the dance market for years. We all know that music goes in cycles, but when has Merengue gone out of style? What we are doing is taking the Latin market into the American pop market. We are going to break barriers like Estefan, Iglesias & Shakira.
LA JARA anticipates much success in the near future. Together with their producers, they continue to write and produce slamming new songs to build a strong publishing force. They're goal is to unite all creeds and races of all ages into musical harmony.
Look for La Jara as they open up for Elvis Crespo's tour 2003.
