Artist History
The Long Story Short:
I always sang and had wanted to play guitar since
I was a tyke. Making music in front of people was
innate. Making a microphone out of what ever I
could (even though I needed no amplification) I
would stand on makeshift coffee table and piano
bench stages. At times I'd play my guitar. I
didn't really know how, but I'd just make whatever
sounded nice come out. I suppose it was in middle
school that I developed this incessant feeling
that if I’d die and disappear. Along with this
insatiable need to express myself I figured I’d
kill a two birds with one stone, so I picked up a
guitar (that I recently learned how actually play)
and wrote my first song making certain there’d be
some proof that I existed. (It was really a funny,
terribly lame song, but hey I was twelve.)
I continued to write and play throughout my high
school and college career rocking out acoustically
for friends and strangers all the time and putting
together a demo. While studying theater, music,
and dance at Millikin University, I was constantly
on stage. Aside from my gigs as a
singer/songwriter, I sang in jazz and a capella
groups. I decided I couldn’t be fulfilled simply
learning about these things and playing for small
audiences. I needed to be out doing them making music
for the world to see. I needed to impact people.
So, I left after 2 years there, packed everything
into a Ryder, and drove away to Los Angeles.
After thinking I had sworn off school, I found
this great place school, California Lutheran
University, and completed my studies in Drama
and Religion. Now, with nothing tying me down,
I could fill the worlds radio and television waves
with my face and sounds.
Through my manager and close friend, Keith
Anderson (co-founder of A/I management), I met
Thaddues Wiseman an intensely passionate person
and an incredible drummer. We were instantly
friends. He moved out to LA and few months after
we met. We started gigging around Hollywood
occasionally. Later he picked up a guitar, and
he made the craziest most wonderful sounds spill
from six steel strings and a wooden box. I knew
if I’d write with anyone, I could do it with him.
And together, we put together my first
collaborated artistic effort and wrote the song
Rational. We still write together frequently.
Now, under Keith’s supervision we’re gigging
consistently in the LA area, and putting together
an EP that will hopefully be done by January 2003.
