Artist History
The Arcolytes are a groove driven modern rock band based in Portland, Maine. They feature some of Maine's finest musicians showcasing a world of influences. The band was formed with a single purpose in mind: To write, record and promote a collection of outstanding songs.
It all started in early 2001. Jeremy Shirland ( guitar ) invited Todd Orcutt ( guitar ) and Tim Gayne ( drums ) to participate in some recording sessions at a local college recording studio. They arranged, recorded and mixed 3 songs in two days with no preconceived ideas. The songs had a unique spark and the results were inspiring.
Energized by the sessions, the trio decided to record a full length album. They entered the Tone Zone Recording Studio to record the basic tracks for The Arcolytes with Gary Hibbard co-producing. Eventually, the band recruited
Theresa Triano ( bass and keyboards ) and Kris Bridges ( lead vocals) to complete the line-up and finish the album.
It took little time to develop the chemistry of a seasoned band. All are veterans of the local circuit. Orcutt and Shirland were students of guitar guru Bob Thompson. Bridges and Orcutt were members of central Maine favorites, Positive Fuzz. Gayne, is a seasoned session drummer who has played with the University of Maine tour band. Triano is an accomplished singer/songwriter who has released several solo albums and performed throughout the northeast with Shirland as an acoustic duo.
The members have collectively brought their talents together with The Arcolytes. |
