Artist description
eskeoti (pronounced "S-K-O-T") is the pseudonym of Skot Gillies, who thinks the best music often times defies genre descriptions. Skot likes many different styles of music, and does not actively try to write songs of different styles...they sometimes just end up that way. The three songs sampled herein are only three songs. |

Artist History
Skot started playing guitar with single string "Ode to Joy" rendition lessons, so he quit. Fast forward a few years: he forms a band with some friends, and resumes lessons to learn chords. The band devolved from grungish to punk, went through a few names (I Hate Mr. Smeds being the main one), hair lengths and hair colors, then went our separate ways. Skot then joined up with some buddies to form Mindframe, which became a sort of experimental alternative nu-metal meldingish kinda project, circa '96/'97 when Skot was listening to a lot Far and Deftones' "Adrenaline".
When Mindframe parted ways, Skot gradually joined up with an already existing band called Middle Class Disaster (http://www.mp3.com/middleclassdisaster), who were in the process of morphing from a punk to a ska band. After a very enjoyable few years of good shows, good songs, and goofy antics, Skot moved to England and went on hiatus from MCD. Upon his return a year later, the band regrouped to write a few songs and play a few shows, but by then some of the members were ready to go off on their own.
So...Skot called himself eskeoti and took a bunch of songs he'd been recording over the past year or two on a cheesy cassette four-track, put them onto a CD and started playing some solo acoustic gigs. |
