Artist History
It all started back in the day. Nate Long and Stace Sirmans were friends at the time. Nate bought a bass and Stace bought a guitar. "Dude we could be in a band," "hahaha yeah." So Nate and Stace jammed out for the first time in Stace's house. They immediately clicked and sounded like they had been playing for months. Meanwhile, John Newman was experimenting with songwriting on his guitar. Nate and Stace immediately began searching for a band and so did John. It was less than a month before the three founding members of Lucid Blue joined together. Originally Nate, Stace, and John took the name Lithium and began the unique sound that still exists today. They soon added drummer, Nick Goldstein, who proved to be exceptionally talented. Meanwhile another drummer was playing with a band called Orphius. Jon Rousseau enjoyed being in his band, but knew something was missing and later left the band. Meanwhile, conflicts arose with Lithium drummer, Nick with availability. He left the band due to time issues and Lithium began the search for a new drummer. Stace knew of a childhood friend who now played drums. Nate and Stace went to over to Jon's house to jam out and check out his skills. They played song the three had written with Nick. When Nate and Stace played it with Jon it was like the missing piece of the puzzle was found. Two weeks later the band played their first show under the name, Cross Factor and heard for the first time, "wow, who are those guys!?" This wasn't the last time they would hear this phrase. Soon the band, seeking a permanent name that truly reflected the band's music, began playing under many names. After going through about 5 or 6, Lucid Blue was finally decided on. The meaning related directly to band. Nate's definition of Lucid Blue: an essence extremely complex, yet mind opening. Lucid Blue began playing shows under this new name and began to become well known among the local high school students. Here's where the story takes an interesting turn. Rewind back to Lucid Blue's (Cross Factor’s) first show from a different point of view. Cameron Zauche was jammin' with a friend and they wrote a few songs. One night he went to go see some guys that heard were in a band. He experienced an incredible show that was played by "Cross Factor" a band he knew little about but knew a few of the members. He followed the band through the name change and attended many Lucid Blue shows. It would turn out that over a year later he would join his idols in their band! His addition to the band added extreme versatility to the already extremely versatile band. Now a five-piece rock band, Lucid Blue had two separate lead guitarists (John and Cameron) as well as two completely independent lead singers/songwriters (Nate and Stace) and Jon was proving to be a superb drummer. With so much talent concentrated into one band (it has been said that Lucid Blue has five front men) Lucid Blue constantly blew away their audiences and gained many loyal fans who attended every show. Lucid Blue improved exponentially as a band and played shows around town. It was just a couple of months ago that they got their first out-of-state show. Now they are looking for a record label so they can take the band to the next step. Right now, Drive-Thru Records and Sony Music are looking at the band. "The only thing that separates us [as far as professionalism] from the bands you hear on the radio is a label" says members of Lucid Blue. Nate, Stace, and John, the founding members look back to their old days of Lithium and smile. "We've always had the dream and that dedication that’s kept us serious" says Nate. "We knew all along that we were gonna be huge some day" says John jokingly. Now the future looks bright for Lucid Blue, a legend that started less than three years ago. A legend that just begun. Are you ready? because WE ARE LUCID BLUE! |
