Artist History
"Judas Sweet Judas," was created in the spring of 2002 by artist Jason Swain. This artist, for as long as he could remember, always knew that he wanted a career in the music industry. Despite multiple attempts at dissuading the artist when he was younger with warnings about the treachery of the industry from his instructors and the like, he stayed his course. It was necessary for him to arm himself with the knowledge he needed to become a success, instead of merely brushing his aspirations aside for the appropriation of a dependable income. Because of his persistence over time, he was eventually given grudging words of encouragement even from those most opposed to his decided profession. They saw him developing not only as an artist, but as a musician and a performer as well.
Coming from a strong background in theater, guitar, creative writing, vocalization and composition, he's always had a strong impression of what he was striving for. He wanted to make albums. He knew from his first Middle School recording experience with a friend in his basement project studio that all he'd need were the tools and the technical know-how to manifest his song ideas out of abstraction. Even with his guitar skills, which improved steadily over time, he felt that a regular three-piece band format was lacking in the type of raw, visceral energy he hoped to convey. Along with the disputes and politics that come along with the marriage of a band, Jason felt that the typical format popularized by the radio was becoming obsolete. That said, he became more interested in the electronic music of the gothic underground, most specifically, industrial music. After certain life-changing circumstances that left him permanently altered, he was coming to realize his audience in the intelligent, alienated individuals that frequented the scene. Though he admired industrial music for it's dark character and intensity, there were few artists that he'd found had the exact presence and composition he was looking for. Jason concluded that the only way he'd find the music he was searching for was if he created it himself.
Seeking an educational resource, Jason enrolled at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences to learn as much as he could in his goal to consummate every aspect of the music industry, including both engineering and production. There he found the means to record his own demo, a sampling of the music that had been cycling through his mind for months. It was during that time that Jason created the concept of "Judas Sweet Judas." According to him, "they are songs about (but not limited to) themes of truth, betrayal, and the dark underside of human nature." It is Jason's goal to sign to a reputable industrial label, not just for purposes of promotion and distribution, but also to obtain the funding he needs to complete an entire album.
