Artist description "Music is my therapy," Jessica says. "I've played piano since I was six and I can remember countless times sitting down at the piano to drown out the rest of the world." Now Jessica writes her own lyrics and melodies. "Opening up my notebook of lyrics is like opening up my diary... Every word has a meaning or memory attached to it. This is how I deal with whatever life throws me.” Her sultry voice has been compared to artists like Cher, Dido and Sarah McLaughlin. And her insightful lyrics have been compared to writers like Rob Thomas, Michelle Branch, Tori Amos and Alanis Morissette. Her style can be described as Pop/Rock, with an attitude to make it stick, a little edge to make it different, and just enough female angst to make it captivating. Jessica started writing music at the age of 10. She started receiving recognition for her writing at the age of 15 when she began winning amateur song writing competitions for her original piano solos and poetry competitions. Jessica speaks and writes lyrics in four languages (French, Japanese, Spanish, and English). “I’ve always loved languages,” she explains. “Being able to communicate with someone in their own language is one of the most compelling ways to respect other cultures. For me, the lyrics are the most important parts of my songs; I want to translate them into as many languages as possible. It’s the only true way to relay your message.” Jessica graduated from one of the country's most elite universities, Smith College, in 2001. She majored in Economics and French. She currently works as a financial analyst in the entertainment industry, but spends all her free time writing and recording music and performing at local venues including Highland Grounds, The Joint, and The Acoustic Playhouse.
