    Artist description
Jake is a guitarist/mandolinist/wanna-be singer songwriter from Denver, CO. He plays lead guitar for the space pop/rock band LOOK EYE & in his spare time outside of the band likes working on his own music, which isn't half as good as the collaborative efforts he's got going on in Look Eye! His old band, the PRECIOUS ROY BAND, is also featured here on MP3 & he appears on tracks by RICH STOLP.

    Artist History
Jake distinctly remembers that day back in high school, when he was in his room with the door closed playing air guitar to the song "Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots. What a refreshing sound it was, compared to the country and show tunes his parents tainted him with. Later that week he was at his first guitar lesson, and for the next three years he continued lessons and found himself performing at local school events, cafes, in his high school talent show, and with a phenomenal guitar-slinging friend who inspired him to climb to new levels as a guitarist. Early inspirations included big rockers like STP, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana (hey, anyone in their 20's will admit that!), and even his guitar teacher whose band he nervously sat in with at a few gigs. It wasn't until he began jamming with other musician's that he really developed his rhythmic/lead playing, drawing influences from favorite guitarist's Todd Nichols (Toad the Wet Sprocket), Todd Park Mohr (Big Head Todd & the Monsters), and later Jon Trafton (Strangefolk). Jake eased his way into the New Jersey music culture, playing guitar first in "Tomorrow's Eve" (a mellow pop-rock band), then on to the Dave Matthews-esque "Rich Stolp Band." At around the same time, he joined another band, "Just Medium," a harder effects-driven five piece reminiscent of Tonic and Radiohead. Playing in two bands, while still jamming and playing acoustic open mics with other friends, kept his ears and ideas fresh while allowing him to evolve and improve as a guitarist. Performing on six studio recordings, a tribute album, and more live shows than a full-time college student should've allowed himself to play, Jake's playing/writing is constantly evolving and changing. Today, with new guitar heroes like Willy Porter, Michael Hedges, Duncan Sheik, and John Mayer, his own singing/songwriting abilities are beginning to take form amongst open tunings and an acoustic guitar. Although he doesn't smoke, Jake one day hopes to be so cool that he can set a burning cigarette in the headstock of his guitar and play blaring two-handed solos like a cheezy guitarist from the 80's!
