Artist History
The monster that is rock n’ roll has a new
addition: EVAN TOTH.
Evan is a new performer with a fresh and unique
spin on a timeless sound. He is a modern poet with
the ability to kick ass. He is a prime candidate
to lead the new breed of singer/song-writers.
Evan’s musical career began with his parents.
Although his father has no musical abilities,
it is he whom Evan credits as, “My only music
teacher”. Since Evan never had any formal training
(he learned to be proficient on guitar, piano and
harmonica by himself) the rich array of music his
father introduced to him provided him the canvas
on which to paint his God-given talents. Evan’s
mom bought him his first record: The Greatest Hits
of Chuck Berry. That was way cooler than anything
his friends in school were listening to!
Catholic grammar school gave Evan a place to sharpen
his skills as he continually got in trouble with
priests for pounding out Jerry Lee Lewis tunes on
the church piano.
Eventually, Evan joined the ranks of the hallowed
high-school burn-out and started a band:
The Derelicts, in which he wrote, sang and played
guitar. The Derilects began as an amateur act and
bloomed into a professional NJ punk band that
combined the dynamic powers of Nirvana with the
pop/punk flavor of Elvis Costello. However, the
end of high school has a habit of ending more
than class… school was out for The Derelicts.
In 1998, Evan decided to “go it alone” armed only
with his new tunes and a piano. Two thousand
wildly cheering Beatles fans convinced Evan that
he was ready to begin his rock n’ roll journey when
he won the world famous Beatlefest sound-alike contest
for his rendition of the classic “Let It Be”.
After his premier at the now legendary NYC landmark:
88’s, Evan soon became a familiar face in NYC’s
cabaret scene. He continued to perform in other
well-known cabarets, such as Don’t Tell Mama’s
and Regent’s. He even had the honor of performing
a solo show in front of the Paterson, NJ City Hall.
Lady luck once again kissed Evan when he earned
the part of Donny Dulce, sleazy wedding singer,
in the National Tour of one of the longest
running Off-Broadway plays ever: Tony n’ Tina’s
Wedding. After 6 months on the road Evan returned
to Jersey and reprised his role in Manhattan’s
Off-Broadway production of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding
and even toured with the show in Japan. During this
time Evan sharpened his chops playing many restaurants,
hotels, clubs, and private functions.
Evan even has even had a chance to experience music
from the other side of the microphone when he began
his stint as a DJ on one of Northern NJ’s most
revered college stations: WFDU, 89.1FM. Evan would
spin the coolest in new, local and classic
rock/alternative music. He was adamant about having
local musicians visit the show and play live in
the studio for his tri-state audience. Many of his
guests have turned into important, musical friends.
All this success notwithstanding Evan can’t help
but smile when he talks about finally forming THE
EVAN TOTH BAND. He’s got it all: timeless lighter
waving tunes such as Life of Leisure, angry rock
tunes like the biting and bitter Because of You
and epic scene-scapes of the New Jersey night in
Night American are stirring alone, but when
backed with a full-scale band they just friggin’
ROCK! Evan’s music verifies that he is
the true package. His blend of sincerity, integrity
and talent has been tough to find in
music lately.
Echoing past masters, yet spinning his own undeniable
spin, Evan Toth is armed and already leading the
battle to save rock n’ roll. He’s always ready to
take a gamble as the dice tattoo on his arm explains.
If you need him on your team (and you do) call him.

Press Reviews
Evan Toth plays in the vein of Billy Joel when he
was still into piano pop or, better yet, a
post-anger Joe Jackson who didn’t move toward
the cocktail and swank set.
