They say that when the rainstorms are coming you feel free and in a perfect world troubles fade away. DevicesInShift is a four piece Emo-Core group based out of El Paso, TX. Their genre (Emo-Core) takes modern mainstream rock/alternative and delves into an all driven all feeling device. The transfer is complete when the band’s image and sound come together in its expression.
The group came together in May of 2002. The members each bring with them their own perspectives ranging from soft ballads to in-your-face driven music. Vocalist Michael Vincent carves heartfelt and driven lyrics to compliment progressive and rapid changing music percussionist: Adrian Christopher; bassist: Isaac Kennedy, and guitarist: Matt Malden produce in the rhythm section. The band continues to write new music and refine current compositions.
DevicesInShift is unsigned and self managed therefore their success is well complimented in the time frame in which it has transpired. A website was created in October 2002 and, as of July 2003, has received over 3500 hits. Music was uploaded to MP3.com in November of 2002 and, as of July 2003, has received more that 1200 hits. Fan sites have begun to develop and merchandise sales(ranging from buttons and discs to stickers and shirts), which began in December 2002, are yielding a positive response as the band continues to gain exposure around the region.
Currently the band is working on a full length disc scheduled for release in winter 2004. The tracks “Close Your Eyes” and “Perfect World” were released in October 2002 and will also be included on the full length disc. New material off the new single scheduled for release in September 2003, including the track “Timeline Tragedy” have begun to gain airplay at college rock radio stations around the nation.
