Artist History
Bobby Stewart began performing and recording around the New York City area with various groups, including Bobby Stewart and the I.D.'s - a band that developed a cult following at clubs such as CBGB and Max's Kansas City. When The I.D.'s disbanded, Stewart signed with Warner Bros. Records as a solo artist and released "Copyright On Love," which charted nationally. Other successful recordings include "Bottom Of The Drum" and "Dark Side Of Love" on S.O.S. Records.
Thought Stewart describes his music as being "pop-oriented," his individualistic approach has resulted in creating a style that critics have described as "unique" and "original" and throughout his various projects he has worked with an array of great musicians including members of The Psychedelic Furs, Buzzcocks, The Roches, and others who have played with such artists as The B-52's, Joe Jackson, Sting and Chaka Khan.
His new band, Bobby Stewart & The Contraires, has been playing clubs in the New York City area such as CBGB and The C-Note. |
