The energetic ensemble of Bail Out has made a name for themselves right here in
Virginia Beach. They've played just about every bar, venue, and nightclub you can
name in Virginia and the gigs they book aren't just small shows. They've played
Warped Tour '00 and '01, and opened up for Less Than Jake, Sum 41, and Unwritten
Law.
Bail Out recently hosted a release party for their second full-length CD, "Fish vs.
Warthog." The event filled the place over its capacity and had the audience jumping
and cheering. The turnout was hot. Over 300 CDs were sold the first night. A good
start to match the over 2,000 copies sold of their preceding album.
So how does Bail Out get to be Bail Out? What sets them apart from the rest?
Of course, no band would compare themselves to another band. What Bail Out proves
to be is a massive sound from the depths of Virginia Beach producing awesome, high
energy, electrifying shows in packed houses. The band members agree that Green Day
has been one of their biggest influences, but would not compare their music to New
Found Glory or Sum 41. So maybe that's it. They are in a transitional stage of
band/thought process. "We don't want to be pop/punk, we want to strive to the next
level," explained lead guitarist Brian Barbour. "The next album will be headed
towards rock with a punk influence. We feel the new songs we're playing are a direct
reflection of that."
So with plans of a new rock style for their next CD, what else do the boys envision?
"I just want to do this for as long as I can, to be with my friends and to do what
I love, -play music," said rhythm guitarist Josh Evans. Drummer Kris Livernois, on
the other hand, respects the fact that he's been able to learn humility from the
experience of becoming established. "At this point, we're just gonna play."
