Artist description Hi. We are Valoo, the not-so-famous three-piece with a soul. There isn't a specific breakdown as to who does what within the band.Everything is a collaboration and blending of our talents and vision for each piece. Just as our musical style is diverse, so are our backgrounds and personalities (except for the fact that we're all Italian.) Dino Barbiera and Derek Snider have spent a considerable part of their lives in Southeren California, while Melinda Wood has lived in Ohio as well as Southeren California, but spent her most formative years in Kentucky...which is where Valoo begins...Derek and Dino were playing small clubs around the U.S with their band Adam's Apple. Derek's cherry Chevy Nova finally rolled into the biggest city in Southeastern Kentucky, Richmond (which isn't really all that big). Melinda wasin the club that night and after listening to their powerful, striking, innovative music (and after downing about 50 cups of coffee) she finally felt moved (and crazed) enough to sing when they opened up the mike to the audience. She was struck by the passion of their music, they liked the personality and emotion they heard in her vocals...so she packed up the essentials, and left half her life behind.When Adam's Apple broke up, Dino, Derek, and Melinda formed Valoo. They invested in a 4-track and a drum machine (since they lost their drummer when the old band split), and for six months, they practiced in a hot, dingy, one bedroom apartment. After a while, they finally moved into a garage (how cliche can you get?) which was a lot bigger (and more comfortable) than a one bedroom apartment dining room table. They started to put out amazing music. Derek and Dino offered incredible insights into both the musical compositions of each piece and how it should be executed, while Melinda wrote about her diverse life experiences around the country. Valoo wants you to listen and hear. To feel and identify. To groove and dance.To cry and scream. To feel what's inside of you through what's inside of us.To make a statement and make you think.
