Artist History
Juan and Velcro met on the 'inside'. when they were moved up to the cafeteria from the laundry room. Juan made a big deal out of once playin' synths for Daryll Hall on his solo tour. Velcro didn't care. He didn't care until he ran into San Diego in a bar in Milwaukee a year after they were both let out of jail. Velcro had run up a tab over $146 and needed to pay the bar owner at least half, or he'd rat him out to his parole officer. Velcro convinced Juan to lay down some piano for him as he sang some old Hall & Oates covers. the set seemed to be worth $80 to the owner, and he let Velcro slide. A guy named "Horsedick" saw the two croon the crowd with the rock 'n soul and asked Velcro and San Diego if they'd join his band "MAINFRAME", a robotic funk band that at the time was just "Horsedick" and some docctor guy who played bass. No one in Milwaukee was into "MAINFRAME" so they were planning to move to chicago and play at gentlemen's clubs. Velcro and San Diego thought they made a great team and jioned forces with "Horsedick" (aka Bill 'M.F.' Roe) and Prof. Art 'Boojy' Blustien. They changed thier name to the Soul Machinations and got a steady gig at Dangerous Curves strip club. The owner of the club threatened to fire the band if they didn't find a guitar player. The band said "We'll do whatever it takes to keep playin' for naked chicks..." and so they found a regular at Dangerous Curves who know how to play, he also knew exactly what each girl liked to dance to. His name was Halden Spoonwood, or at least thats what his I.D. said. He had some pro licks and hot chops, not to mention he really smoked on guitar. So the Soul Machinations tore up the dance floor and later opened a U.S. tour for Clarence Carter and Luke Skywalker, the 2Live Crew guy. |
