Artist description
Feathermerchants is a six piece, dual female fronted band whose influences run from traditional Middle Eastern music to Modern rock bands like the Sundays and Throwing Muses. Their 12 song debut record is a diverse journey through those influences bound by a songwriting based consistency. The bands exotic instrumentation ranges from Greek and Irish Bouzouki to lap steel all beautifully crafted by producer Jim Chapdelaine with Pete Veru |

Artist History
Feathermerchants was founded in 1998 by songwriter Pete Veru. Through various line-up adjustments the band finally found it's center with Alison Winston and Erin O'Hara(ex-Mambo X and EO) as co-lead singers. Jim Chapdelaine(ex-Mr. Right) as the bands lead guitar player and producer. Pete Veru on Greek bouzouki, acoustic and electric rhythym guitar, Drew Glackin(ex-Mr. Right, current Silos) on fretless and fretted bass and lap steel, and Jon Peckman on drums and percussion. The band played to packed houses mainly at the East Village mainstay club, Brownies. The band took 4th place in the best band vote in the 1998 Intel New Music Festival as well as playing at the 1998 Seattle International Film Festival. The band stopped playing out in September of 1998 to devote full time to their 12 song debut record. |
