Artist History
Evan Brubaker splatters Pop, Folk, and Funk on the wall like a Jackson Pollack painting, creating a sexy canvas of musical surprises. From his first musings in 9th grade English class to his most recent album, Half Moon, Evan has melded Pop charm with a literary-poetic sensibility. Conservatory trained, he cut his teeth as a sound engineer and guitar tech for guitar great Michael Hedges before striking out on his own in 1997. His debut CD "Third Floor" received raves and was selected by Performing Songwriter Magazine as One of the Top 12 Indie Releases of the Year. His new album features back-up by members of Ani Difranco’s band and the results are no less exciting. Brubaker twists the everyday into a quirky funhouse reflection of itself. Yet, like the work of Ben Folds and Barenaked Ladies, at the core of each song is a simple emotion. |
