Press Reviews
Barreling through the Hollywood Club scene, The Accelerators are the latest of the “buzz bands” to break out from the plethora of live music that Los Angeles has to offer. In addition to a regular rotation at the Roxy Theatre, the band has been a featured act at smaller clubs, outdoor music festivals, and showcases.Heavily influenced by punk band Social Distortion and psychobilly band The Reverend Horton Heat, one might try to classify The Accelerators as the newest members of a young crop of musicians who base their style and sound on imitating their predecessors; however, what makes this electrifying trio of musicians stand out is their amazing ability to fuse together grunge and alternative sounding music while giving it a dash of personal ass-kicking by supplying enough individuality to take it above the level of mediocrity. Led by singer/guitarist Bryan Ferguson, the band maintains a passion and energy for which grunge rock is known. In songs like Once It’s Over and Everything I’ve Seen, Ferguson displays a raw and honest approach to life, expressing an education of overcoming hard knocks through his strong lyrics. Edgy guitar riffs are backed by the band’s strong rhythm section, bassist Robert Bausch and percussionist Gabe Valencia, who round out The Accelerators’ distinctive sound. Rhythm section highlights are found in the song Rat Fink, which also displays a touch of rockabilly influence. With the release of their first full-length CD coming soon, The Accelerators will receive mainstream success in addition to the continued approval of an already growing fan base built on constant touring and live performances. If you can’t wait, check them out right now on the Web at: www.theaccelerators.com. In the meantime, The Accelerators are keeping their eyes steadily fixed on the road as they gun ahead to success. Be careful not to blink, or they’ll speed by so fast you’ll be left choking on exhaust fumes as you witness yet another band’s journey to stardom in this rat race we know as the music biz. But, hey, it’s just another day in L.A. ---Toni Czechorosky |
