Artist description
Although Zeugma has only been in existence yfor two ears, the ensemble has already aroused much interest from its listeners. During these two first years, committed to apprenticeship, research and creation, the ensemble participated in the Festival du Monde Arabe (Montreal), and on March 2nd, 2001, presented its first concert entitled The Middle East and the West in Music. It also performed two concerts at the festival Espaces-Émergents in Montreal, and was invited by the Order of Maronites of Montreal to play for the Lebanese community. In addition to their next performance in Quebec City on June 22nd, 2002, and their CD, (a co-production shared by Zeugma and Third House on the Left) is scheduled for summer 2003 (the original CD schedule was November, 2002, but due to the sudden death of the second violinist to a hear attack at age 35, the schedule was postponed to 2003). The ensemble is also scheduled to present concerts at the Sommet de la Francophonie, which will take place in Lebanon in October 2003. This event, which had previously been scheduled for October 2001, was pushed back because of the September 11th tragedy and the commencement of the war in the Middle East. |
