Artist description The Virtuoso Program at San Domenico School is a unique pre-professional training program for high school-aged string players; the only such program in the U.S. exclusively for young women. The program combines intensive orchestral and chamber-music training with a rigorous College Preparatory Curriculum.

Artist History The Virtuoso Program was founded in 1977 by Faith France, in response to the effects of the marginalization of music education in California's public schools. Merit Scholarships insure that no deserving student is denied acceptance because of financial need.

Group Members The Program has approximately 20 students at one time, who play in four to five chamber ensembles as well as the orchestra. 4 to 8 years' previous playing experience is recommended; 12-18 hours weekly practice is expected.
