These are the first words from the debut album BROTHAFROMANUTHAPLANET, from the soul/r&b artist Soul Folk. The singer/songwriter/producer has a blend of musical styles from the Bay Area soul movement with a splash of the underground hip-hop culture.This heartfelt collection creates the spirit of the hustlin’, lovin’ and livin’ of citylife. During high school, he started to perform in different bands ranging from funk to ska to hip-hop opening for groups like Primus, Fishbone, the Ohio Players and the Heiroglyphics. In 1991 he co-wrote a gold record named "Hold You Tight" while working with Giant/WB Records artist Tara Kemp in SF and L.A., which created many revelations about the business of music, it’s leaps and its pitfalls. This prompted him to write the song "Searchin for Silver" which also features Tara on guest vocals. As Soul Folk says "Tara has been a true friend and has always recognized the spirit of r&b, soul and jazz music." BROTHAFROMANUTHAPLANET drops 12/31/02 on Dreamtree Entertainment.
