Artist History
Jason Roy and Tim Roy formed Relapse in January of 2001 after growing disillusioned with rock radio. In the summer of 2001 Aaron Kauffman joined on drums, and in the summer of 2002, after several bass players departed, Doug Vanhartesveldt joined on bass. Heavily inluenced by classic rock bands such as The Beatles, The Who, U2 and The Rolling Stones and newer bands like Oasis, The Verve, and Flickerstick, Relapse's sound begins to take its shape. The thunderous rhythm section provided by Doug and Aaron rivals any of the aforementioned bands. Couple that with Jason's brit-pop influenced guitar sound and you begin to understand Relapse's sonic vision. To round out Relapse's unique soundscape Tim Roy lends his one of a kind vocals to complete the mix. At only 17 years of age Tim has brought comparisons of Liam Gallagher, Kelly Jones, and Kurt Cobain. Relapse's live show is truly a sight to see, mixing the energy of the Who and Flickerstick with the melody of Oasis and the Beatles, Relapse have found a winning combination. Relapse is currently in the studio recording their debut album to be released in the fall of 2002.
