Artist History
Colt Valenti began studying the guitar at six years of age, in his home-town of Des Moines, Iowa. He studied both the electric guitar and the classical guitar under the instruction of Judy Menard and Paul Wilson. After graduating Valedictorian in high school, he pursued and completed both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in guitar performance at the University of Georgia, summa cum laude with honors, under the instruction of Professor John Sutherland. He then continued his guitar studies in Italy as a Fulbright Grantee and Miguel Vinceguerra Fund Grant Recipient. In Florence, Italy, Colt studied with Maestro Flavio Cucchi, and Maestro Nuccio D’Angelo. Mr. Valenti has been a featured performer in the master’s classes of such artists as Christopher Parkening, Pepe Romero, Eliot Fisk, and Alberto Ponce, among others. Colt was named the “Outstanding Performer” of the 2000 GMTA Upper College Competition, and has performed guitar concerts in such cities as Berlin, Germany; Florence and Siena, Italy; Atlanta and Athens, Georgia; Des Moines, Iowa; and Nashville, Tennessee. |
