Artist description
To induce an emotion. To connect with people. To be yourself. Yes.
These have always been the goals of Adagio on their journey of musical expression. It began in their early days of singing a cappella songs in bathrooms, and these aspirations continue to hold true for the group several years later upon the release of their debut album, 3 Coin Project. Designing the album’s compositions from passion, inspiration and amusement was a natural feel for Rich Agustin, Dann Marty and Eberjan Purugganan, evident in their daily down-to-earth lives. The sound of this three-piece group has the feel of a lighthearted soul while maintaining a sense of seriousness and emotion, a collective musicality originated by their chemistry and diverse roots of Jersey, Philly and Southern Cali.

Artist History
The group began as an adventure for uprooted Californian Dann Marty and Queens-born Eberjan Purugganan in the spring of 1996. They had attended adjacent universities in Newark, New Jersey while gaining motivation from each other’s strong interest in performance. Toiling with a sundry of lackluster vocalists early on, the group had finally established its completion when newly arrived freshman Rich Agustin came on the scene in the fall that year. “Eberjan had mentioned the group to me when I was still in high school,” explains Rich, “Who knows what would’ve happened if I didn’t choose a school in Newark.” Luckily, he did choose Newark, and the dawn of Adagio was imminent. |
