Artist History
Born and raised in West Virginia as a mountain mama, Summer began playing guitar at age fourteen. In 1995, she put shoes on :) and made a solo trek to her current residence of Tampa Bay to escape the treacherous winters of the north and get into a bigger city. As a youth, she was greatly influenced by the early songwriting of Bob Dylan. She spent many hours listening to her mom's records transcribing his powerful lyrics into a worn notebook (evidence of the ample recreational activities offered by small town West Virginia). Her recent years have been spent road tripping across the country, studying music, writing songs, recording, doing graphic design.

Press Reviews
In the midst of drunken confusion, in between electronic, funk, and a booty shakin' free style, a spunky woman took over the stage. Wowing the audience with high-energy original pieces combined with her interpretation of known favorites, Summer silenced the spectators and sent percussion fetish men to their drums to accompany this guitar playin' folk singer through her set.-- Colleen Gorlewski, Baydomain.com |
