    Artist History
Kerrigan is a band formed back in 2001. Zsolt Homonnai founded it because he felt the urgency of creating a (relaxed, colloquial)Celtic band to play in.He was glad that first of all his friend,Zoltán Elek joined the band as the bodhran player. He then introduced Zsolt to Boglárka Majoros, who became the whistle and flute player. It was the core of the group that now only needed a singer and a violinist. The latter desire was fulfilled soon, but it was not until October 2001 that we founded the proper violin player called Szabolcs Szilágyi. He combined his Classical studies with a flexible style.Anyway, his playing is great. It was also the time when we met Réka Nagy, who undertook the difficult task of singing in the band. All of the members with the eception of Zsolt (English-Sociology undergraduate student) have a lot to do with biology.Either they are biology majors at the University of Debrecen,Hungary,or they are medical students in the same city (Szabolcs,to be exact). We are by no means pros and we have been playing for the sake of learning and enjoying this kind of music. We all have to admit that listening to Celtic music and knowing something about this culture (history, etc) is "slightly" different from playing the music. It is a question of making important decisions. These decisions then form the band further widening or narrowing the path to walk on.Well,we chose widening. We love Hétrét,a Hungarian band, which mixes quite a few styles when playing Celtic music. We mostly play Irish music, but Hungarian folk and Transylvanian (Moldva, Gyimes)roots are reflected in some of our songs. On the album you will find a song bearing this line of our experimentation (Willie Macintosh). We have played on organized dance occasions, in the street music festival in Veszprém,Hungary in the summer. At this moment we play no longer due to the fact that Szabolcs went abroad on scholarship.Others of the band are also sort of too busy now to do it longer.Well, we shall see what future has for us.May you wish luck to us.
