Artist History
Gore Priest its a solo project, made with the purpose of making a new kind of black metal, influenced by many known bands of the underground scene, but with a very particular feature: it has no distorted guitars. The gestation of the Gore Priest begins in 2001, where a novice fifteen year old keyboard player finally decided to sit in front of his Casio keyboard (which was practically a toy), and he made some music using basic chords. There was only one kind of sound used, such as piano, strings or brass, the rythmic sequence was undefined and the songs were really short (This is the birth of "Into The Melancholical Darkness" and "The Velvet Rope Of Brotherhood"). These were the first steps of the project.
Always impressed by the soundtracks, neo-classical music and metal mostly, the keyboard player decided to make his first full-length album, which would be "Beneath Eternal Oceans Of Melancholy", finished between March & April 2002, in the vein of black metal bands like DARK FUNERAL, EMPEROR, BORKNAGAR, Soundtracks, Classical, and even Game music. In this album, the keyboard player tries to explain the birth of his alter ego (the Gore Priest), which he divides in four chapters. This album remained instrumental.
After the making of this album, lots of ideas were left into oblivion, like the making of albums full of covers, a non-metal album, etc, but months later, after a long vacation period, Gore Priest comes back again to the studios with a very different influence, to make a new, astonishing & apocalyptic album. The making of "War Against Humanity: The Armageddon Chronicles" began on August 2002, which could be defined as: PURE HATRED AGAINST MANKIND!! The influences varied a little (latest DARK FUNERAL & DIMMU BORGIR, THYRFING, old CRADLE OF FILTH, ANAAL NATHRAKH, THORNS, DODHEIMSGARD, UNNATURAL SHELTER, etc...) and the keyboard is no longer a CASIO toy, so expect a better sound from this album which comes crushing anything that's on its way.
Indeed, a crushing masterwork that comes with nothing but hatred, the sorrow and dissappointment felt by a god who thought His creation was the mightiest race ever made, but this album will show that mankind does not deserve the gift of life, for the destruction of nature, the betrayal of humans to mother earth, and the repentance of man facing a moment of desparation, where all creations are completely destroyed, for now its too late, and there's no more mercy to beg for!! |
