Artist History
The Invisibles started with humble beginnings
in the summer of 1999 with a group of high school
friends playing their first show for a large group of
drunken high schoolers in a small rural town in
northwest Colorado.
After having just graduated the band went separate
ways to go to college Troy DeRose, the guitar player
and primary singer songwriter and the former guitar
player, now bass player Josh Roberts kept the dream of
the invisibles despite living 150 miles apart and
after finding a drummer in Grand Junction, CO where
Troy attended college, they were soon reunited to
reform The Invisibles. Under the new lineup The
Invisibles played a number of shows with local bands
as well as opening for Let’s Go Bowling and The
Tossers winning over the hearts of many of the local
youth while building a strong fan base. In the summer
of 2000 they recorded their first full length album
Farewell to Innocence in the living room of the house
DeRose was living in. This self released album got
airplay on the local college radio station and helped
to get their name out and their reputation as a
serious band in the area.
In the fall of 2001, after personal conflicts and
differences in direction the drummer quit and again
left The Invisibles as just Roberts and DeRose. They
had almost given up on the idea of playing that music
despite strong new songs that had been written and the
desire to play this music they had fallen in love with
years earlier. A period of six months passed until
Andy Thomas presented himself as a possible contender
for the drummer position. Thomas, who was actually a
fan of The Invisibles, fit in perfectly bringing a new
clarity to the band and really sealing up the lineup.
They began playing again opening for Denver based
bands The Fairlanes and Laymen Terms, as well as The
Teenage Tragedies and The Hudson Falcons. After a few
months of playing with Thomas, The Invisibles decided
to record their second full length album opting this
time to use a real studio they went to Paradice
Records a local recording studio and friend. Here they
spent their evenings for the two months working on
Walking Away From Things We’re Not. This album was
quite a change from their previous album showing new
mature song writing.
With their album done and a tour on the schedule The
Invisibles just recently added another member, Ethan
Steenson as second guitar player, bringing a new
fullness and dynamic to the band. They hope that this
addition will develop their live sound to match what
they created in the studio.

Press Reviews
This CD is a breath of fresh air
in an era where the music is either
too poppy or too political.
"walking away from things we're not"
helps reinforce the reasons I love punk rock.
