Artist History
Bucket of Witches are the sole purveyors of Gothic Americana, a new combination of acoustic funk, folk, country, jazz and rock with often dark lyrics. The duo is made up of multi-instrumented singer/songwriters John Feula and Mikael Lewis.
John has been performing in the Phoenix acoustic scene for years and is known for his creative and catchy songwriting and over-the-top guitar and mandolin playing. Mikael, a transplant from Northern Ireland, has toured frequently in Ireland and the UK. Mikaels compelling songs are complimented with a lush finger-style of playing and a penchant for experimental tunings.
The two songwriters had been friends for over a year and had been looking for a project to work on together. That project turned out to be the soundtrack for a book by Greek author Nikos Ligidakis. John and Mikael were immediately impressed at how well their styles blended into a new sound all their own. A major contribution to this new sound is Mikaels new Latin cajon kit.
Bucket of Witches has recently released their debut EP that includes the songs The Magnificent Three, Trouble and Prudence, and 7x10. The boys are currently working on their debut album, Songs of Freedom, which is slated for released in late summer/early fall of 2003 along with the book of the same name.
