Artist description
We are a klezmer band residing in Gothenburg, mostly playing on parties and weddings with an occasional concert here and there. None of us play only klezmer - there is a clarinet playing harpsichordist, a jazz saxophone player / tango dancer, a jazz pianist playing the accordeon, a composer and cellist behind the double bass, and a jazz drummer. Apart from klezmer, we also have some balkan numbers. Our goal is to make the performance as spontaneuos and unpredictable as possible, both to you and to us! That is one of the things we like most about klezmer music. We are planning to make a CD, but for the moment, mp3.com is the place you can hear us.
The tracks here are from a live concert at the Oceanen Cultural Centre, Gothenburg. |

Artist History
The band was started by clarinetist Andreas Edlund in 1997. His interest in jewish music began at the university in the early nineties, when he was introduced to the klezmer music by a jewish friend. A few years later, participating in a staging of Hamlet in Stockholm, some klezmer tunes again found their way out of his clarinet. Shortly after that, on returning to Gothenburg, Bengt-Klezmers Orkester was born. At first it was a quite large band, with nine members. Quite soon, the present constellation of five was set. The band has since then played in numerous places. |
