Artist description
If you sat the spirits of Anxiety, Disconnection, Hope and Longing around a table with a big bottle of vodka and a few hours to talk, it might capture the feeling of Alex Holderness' song writing. Located in between the anger of observing a world gone mad and reflecting on a life lived fully, but without purpose resides the fulcrum of Holderness' inspiration. Sometimes too literal, but always impactful, Holderness offers the listener emotionally crafted songs with an ear pleasing sound. |

Artist History
Currently residing in San Francisco but hailing originally from Minneapolis, MN, Alex Holderness has made his way around the country; stopping just long enough to understand the local scene and then move on to the next place. The formative years of this singer/songwriter’s youth were spent listening to Punk and Hardcore bands. Husker Du, Soul Asylum and The Replacements were staples in his tape collection. Development as a writer began with the influences of Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel and progressed through the early 1990’s when the next generation of underground took over the mainstream. By this time, Holderness and his bands were comfortably established in the underground college genre and that same melodic, soul filled songwriting is present today. Always reflective and constantly challenging his own understanding of life and the world around him, Holderness songs are true to their spirit and easy to listen to over and over again. Add this to his spectacular ability to connect with the audience during live solo performances makes Alex Holderness a unique and promising, not so young anymore, artist for the future. |
