Artist description
The members in Sugar Pig go back a few years. Dom met Al and Dave in 1999 while trying to put together a new band with a guitarist named Chris Gamez. That band didn't work out, so Dave and Dom ended up forming a band called Healing Tongue along with Chris Gamez, and a bass player named Vidio Guajuardo. During this time Al began playing with a rockabilly band called Chad Thomas and the Crazy Kings and Roland was playing with a band called The Kindly Ones. Dave and Dom had known Roland since High School. Eventually, Dave, Al, and Dom wanted to start a side project. A couple of months down the line, they quit their other bands and decided to make Sugar Pig their main focus. This was in August of 2001. The band was in desperate need of a good, versatile guitar player and found Roland to be exactly what they were looking for. With that, the band played their first show in November of 2001 and kept a pretty consistent schedule. Al and Dom met Andrew while playing in the Tejano scene. Although Al and Dom didn't hang out with Andrew a lot due to the fact that he was in a different band, the friendship was one of mutual resect. He joined the band in June 2002. He is a very talented conga player and multi-percussionist who also plays with Jennifer Pena. The band members all take their music and instruments very seriously and hope that they will someday get a chance to rock you!! |
