Artist description
Working with Acid Pro, Sound Forge and a host of plug-ins, Phluxm offers cutting-edge, experimental, genre-busting dance music and electronica. With enough punch to knock your teeth into orbit, enough dirt to make you squirm, and lashing of creamy cheese, Phluxm's sound is unique and undefinable. Influenced heavily by avant guardist programmers such as Aphex Twin, Square Pusher and Nine Inch Nails; Phluxm mixes electronica with the brutal energy of death metal, the stupidity of Mr.Bungle, and the sweetest mumbling's of Tori Amos to create, what in legend has come to be known only as - "Sponge Music".
Sponge Music was Christened thus because in the beginning tracks sounded like they were being played through a sponge, nextdoor. Since then the term has been used to describe a tendency to mash-up styles and not really be DJ friendly, musically correct and for generally just being a fart when it comes to writing normal music. Phluxm's production has come on a touch since then, mainly due to a shift from hardware to software. The only Sponge-like things about the tracks now are the claustrophobic beats and breathing rythms; and the tendency to try to make songs sound like they are being played through a sponge, nextdoor.
