Artist History
Around 1977 my world exploded musically into punk, new wave, jazz, progressive rock, ethnic, electronic and avant-garde music simultaneously. Eno was a major inspiration as I headed into an electronic music lab circa 1984 using one of the first Moog modular synths ever built and I quickly got into tape loops and efx and looping pre-sampler with a sample and hold digital delay. A short stint in a bottom-40 cover band led me into years of reclusive solo work, rarely sharing or releasing the results of musical experiments dating back to 1980. In the early 90's I began to embrace collaboration again and hosted a series of "one night band" improvisations in my store-front loft in Berkeley and hacked out some work with small ensemble recordings that I manipluated urther with overdubs. Since childhood I've also had an interest in environmental recordings and have gotten into processing those since 1982. I tend to work in spurts, often parking my musical interests for a few years then reviving them with a new perspective and exploring further. |
