Artist History
Laury Webb has been a fixture on the New York reggae scene for several years and could very well be referred to as a modern day Renaissance man. He has truly run the gamut in a career extending from producer, musician, singer, stage actor and model.
With his truly unique style of blending reggae with his other musical influences, Laury Webb and his Tigerbone Band literally ignite and explode on stage. The band has performed at some of New York City's top musical venues, including The Village Gate, The Ritz, The Lion's Den, Joe's Pub, The Baggot Inn, Kenny's Castaways, S.O.B.'s and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.
Laury's musical career began with his role as a keyboardist and backing vocalist with The Meditations. He also accompanied Eek-A-Mouse as a keyboardist on the musician's West Germany tour. Laury, knicknamed "The Opera Dread", with his distinctive baritone voice, then launched a solo career with the TigerBone Band backing him, and recorded and released such singles as "Robot Taxi", "Seems the Same", and "Woman My Queen."
An acting career soon followed with an acclaimed role in the reggae musical, "Rasta", and more recently, a leading role as Joques, the Irie Air Pilot in Jamekya Productions' long running comedy, "Man Smart.... But Woman Smarter." Between roles, Laury found time to appear in music videos and grace the pages of fashion magazines (including the cover of Black Elegance magazine) and the runways of several New York Area fashion shows.
Those who have missed Laury's delivery, which is reminiscent of a West Indian version of Mick Jagger, must see for themselves what this artist has to offer. |
