Artist History
Now 45 years old, I grew up in the "progressive rock" era of the early 70's with all the great bands like YES, King Crimson, ELP, Uriah Heep, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash, Camel, and many others. This music I truly love, however, I would not limit myself to only creating within a single 'genre' or category. I like a wide variety of different styles including: rock, progressive, reggae, folk, flamenco, funk, classical, Middle-Eastern, ethnic-fusion, techno, ambient, and even good old heavy metal, when I'm in a "headbanging" mood :-) In short, I just like what I LIKE! Aside from western music, my past extensive travels & multi-cultural experiences have definately had a big influence on my current musical tastes and direction today. Spending time in places like: Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Marrocco, Mexico, Greece, Spain, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, etc., have enriched my appreciation for a diverse range of musical styles. Living around the Beduins, in the Sinai, Red Sea area for a couple of years helped me to develop a true passion for the Arabic "Maqam" music scale, and traditional local instruments, which I find very interesting, especially when 'fused' with a modern, western type sound. |
