Artist History
Born and raised in New York to a family of professional musicians, Dvorah began studying piano at the age of five. Writing songs through her teens, she then chose to go to art school. She performed in her first band while still a graduate student at Columbia University, and was immediately hooked. Resuming her formal studies in music, she performed in a number of bands on the New York underground music scene. After a brief stint in Los Angeles performing original and cover songs, Dvorah returned to her native New York and began performing her own songs regurlarly both with a full band and acoustically. Her music has been described as 'highly original', 'densely poetic', 'provocative', 'haunting', 'hypnotic', 'compelling', 'playfull', 'gets under your skin and stays there'. Her voice has been describe as 'angelic, 'other -worldly' and 'deeply expressive'She now lives in Freiburg, Germany where she continues to perform her 'very romantic', 'Ohrenwörmen' songs'. Classically trained, her songs are a 'synthesis of everything I've ever heard or been affected by'. |

Group Members
The recordings on this site were made with Karsten Kramer, a Freiburg jazz pianist, on piano. I am now performing with Curits Smith, a wonderful, classically trained pianist from Florida, and a new bass player, Arnd Schröder, a super local Freiburg musician who has added a needed percussive edge and punch. |
