=================================
Israel-based electronic musician Depths of Despair creates a dark and somewhat scary
variation of instrumental trip-hop. DoD's track The Burn is a densely layered, vocal-free piece
which easily falls into the above description, but is not limited by it.
While it certainly could have some appeal to fans of jungle or maybe drum 'n' bass,
this song really seems to be more designed for headphone listening. It is chock full of little details,
like a muffled sample of a scream and lots of background clicks and whirs. Because of all the little
additions, interesting mixing choices, and myriad of structural variation, this fairly lenghty track
never gets boring.
Depths of Despair's music
is very effective. It creates
a little world of darkness and, well,
despair for the listener to reside in for its seven minute run time.
This is highly recommended listening.
