Artist History
Ariel Aparicio was born in Cuba and raised in Miami, but it was in New York that he established a reputation as a charismatic frontman with a memorable voice. He arrived in NY in the mid 80's to study music and audio engineering at New York University and immediately launched into his recording career.
As a singer/songwriter, Ariel has extended his talents in various genres such as punk, funk, alternative reggae and latin. His previous bands experimented with all these styles. Today in his solo work, Ariel continues to intergrate styles and dabble in different genres to create his own unique pop music.
Ariel’s 1st full lenghth CD, "Postcards From Machine", was released independently on his label Bully Records in 2000, achieving high counts of radio airplay throughout the US. In Postcards From Machine, he targeted the Dance & Electronica market with successful results:
"An original, melodic, expressive Trip-hop sound. His honest and passionate lyrics add additional level of depth to his sentient sound. Postcards from Machine creates an atmosphere not soon forgotten."
-IndieGo Promotions, Denver Colorado, 2000
Ariel's follow-up release, "All I wanted" has started with a bang, entering CMJ's "Most Added" chart at #19 on it's second week of release. "All I Wanted" goes down to the basics of a singer/songwriter record while engaging different studio techniques- the "live band" sound; drum loops and samples; melodic horns and string arrangements; and percussion. In this record, Ariel has taken some of the sounds and rhythms of his culture and has combined it with today's modern rock.
There is more than meets the eye with Ariel Aparicio. Each song will bring you something new after every listen.
