Artist description
The Nixon Grin is a Denver band of solid local standing, comprised of four outstanding and charismatic musicians who decided to blend their lyrical and musical talents in 1999. The guitar driven melodies from Rod Dupen (originally from Sydney, Australia) and Chris Kooman (from the Amish paradise of northwestern Pennsylvania) and precision oriented rhythm section consisting of Bass Player Chris Gartenmann (from Longmont, Colorado) and Drummer Alex Winkler (from Detroit, Michigan who began his rock career in Canada), cross many boundaries and genres to create a sound unlike that currently available in the marketplace today. Their Folk/Alternative Rock sound features radio friendly lyric’s, while still reaching the musical intensity of heavier edged competitors. The band’s main influences are Rock, Blues, Folk, Punk, Pop, Metal and Jazz.
With the release of their new compact disc “BI-POLAR”, The Nixon Grin has rendered a solid, well rounded and diverse array of mainstream and alternative rock tunes, that has helped further them musically and professionally. Adding to their growth, the band has traveled at both local and regional levels on a regular basis to include cities such as Los Angeles and Phoenix. This has allowed them to get their name out and develop a rapport with venues and fans. Their experience and presence has landed them opening acts for touring National Acts such as: Super Drag, and most recently, Flickerstick.
