"Raise your hands, unrest is your best friend." Listen up people! ¬â€ Across the waters in all directions from the island of Manhattan , a call was heard in New York City. ¬â€ Five beautiful young rebels came to answer and create a musical celebration and ongoing critique of everyday life as we know it. To say: "This band isn't trying to re-invent rock n roll" is highly typical of a band bio, yet is the furthest thing from the truth in the case ofThe A.K.A.s. The rock n roll of today NEEDS to be re-invented baby! Mike Ski of the socially conscious hardcore band Brother's Keeper found solace in the raw riffage of long-time friend Lukas Previn and together drew up a blueprint for musical resistance that truly speaks to the masses. "These Guitars won't stay in tune... these fists are raised against you! These words refuse to rhyme... the kids won't stay in line!" As if fate had made it unavoidable, the derivistes conspired with the rolling bass guitar of Chad Bowser, Sammy Siegler (of Rival Schools) on the drums, and the soaring sounds of Nina Aron on Farfisa, completing a team of talent and personalities that would soon prove to be unstoppable. With an undeniable energy, The A.K.A.s turned up and turned out a subversive concoction of songs inspired by a culmination of poets, authors, artists, and criminals. Somehow drawing together a dichotomy of musical influences such as Refused, Public Enemy, and Guns & Roses, The A.K.A.s capture both the intensity and timelessness of the MC5 as well as the sweet soul of The Manic Street Preachers. A package that happily remains just beyond a point of reference. "Tomorrow we will rise like a new day's sun with the sounds of resistance on our lips like a first french kiss." The A.K.A.s deliver a whole-hearted and honest assault that is as stylish and romantic as it is raw and defiant. With their anti-boredom campaign, from state-smashing and corporate-bashing to holding hands and inventing plans, the message is more inspiring than tiring. Combine an unrelenting live show of fist-pumping power with a rebel-rousing sound as tight as Whitey's ass and The A.K.A.s are causing more than a just a stir‚Ķthey might just start a revolution. The A.K.A.s are EVERYWHERE!
