Artist History
The TSQ has performed on Dallas public radio and cable television, and also as a feature attraction at music conventions in Texas, Arkansas, Kansas and Washington, D.C. The quartet's 1990 CD release, "Our First Nowell," has been enormously successful and continues to receive airplay in the Metroplex area every holiday season. The TSQ has been featured with the United States Navy Band, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Plano Chamber Orchestra and the Carrollton Chamber Orchestra. The ensemble also presents recitals at local universities such as Southern Methodist University and the University of North Texas, and entertains regularly at the Dallas Museum of Art. Since 1993, the TSQ has functioned as the saxophone section of the Dallas Wind Symphony.
In 1987, the TSQ became the first saxophone ensemble to win first prize in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana. That same year, the group was selected as a finalist in the Chamber Music Chicago Discovery Competition. In May of 1990, the quartet was promoted to the semi-finals of the Concert Artists Guild open competition in New York City.
