Artist description
Oddbox is a four-piece, original rock band, based in the Washington D.C. area. Originally formed in September, 1998 as a trio called Frisbee Dogs, the proto-type band included Mike Grebb on guitar/lead vocals and Skip Daly on bass/vocals. When the pair's original drummer left the band in mid-1999, Grebb and Daly hooked up with drummer David Mason and lead guitarist Ian Maynard. The line-up has remained consistent ever since. |

Artist History
The group's first recording was a 5-song demo, recorded in the spring of 2000. Though recorded quickly and on a tight budget, the songs prompted positive feedback from the folks who downloaded the band's music via various online channels. Oddbox has played shows on a circuit stretching from Northern Virginia up to Baltimore, MD, including multiple performances at Iota, The Vault, The Metro Café, The Velvet Lounge, Rhodeside Grill, Main Street, and others.
The Oddbox sound is difficult to categorize, but is best described as original, college-oriented, progressive, pop-rock. A few covers make appearances from time to time, but the band enjoys writing together, so the focus remains on original material. The songs themselves show maturity beyond the band's age, perhaps the result of countless years spent playing music and honing their individual skills in previous projects (Grebb has written and played in recent years as a solo artist, while the group's collective musical resume also includes the local bands Dakota and Miles Of Styles).
Oddbox just completed work on its first full-length studio record in June, 2002. Slated for an October, 2002 release on indie label Edgimo Records, the disc is entitled Stray From Logic and features 11 tracks (all original compositions). Stray From Logic was recorded and mixed at Recording Arts in Fairfax, VA by four-time WAMA award winning producer Marco Delmar (Emmet Swimming, Citizen Cope, Basehead), and mastered at Wolf Productions by Bill Wolf (Grateful Dead, Mary Chapin Carpenter).
With a new record, and a mailing list going strong, the future looks bright for the group, and the coming months promise to see the band perform in larger and larger clubs with other blossoming acts.
