Artist History Kimberly Kat is an American in London. When Kimberly received her first job, her office window overlooked a cemetery. Everyday she would sit and do her work while watching endless parades of funeral processions, wondering whom it was that had died. After six months of feeling like she had lived a thousand lives, and the realization that no one else in her office seemed to be affected by the never-ending long black cars, Miss Kat made the gut decision to scamper off to London. What was supposed to be a long holiday turned into a creative turning point. She wrote, directed, and scored a short film, The Abductress, which was subsequently showcased and screened before a large audience. After numerous requests for copies of the music from the production, Kimberly decided to delve further into her musical interests. She acquired a mentor by the name of Tommy Mars, the groovy superstar keyboard man who played with Frank Zappa for 11 years. Kimberly took her music theory to a new level and Tommy encouraged her to “stay on that horse,” claiming he’d give the top of his little finger to be able to create melodies as instinctually as she demonstrated. Well, I’m here to tell you – a small part of a finger is a big thing to give up when you are a keyboard dynamo! Living in London, soaking up the vibes, the sounds, and the urban life, Miss Kat has been writing, producing, and performing her own music. Most of the time she writes the melody, lyrics and chord progressions before she gets into the studio. But once she’s in the studio she loves to play around with what she has written, experimenting with sounds and styles in an electronic format. She writes songs that incorporate the destiny of certain relationships, the giving and taking of power, the spiritual essence of a moment, and the general feelings in the air around her. Her work is sensual, sometimes ironic, often vulnerable and is usually most appreciated in intimate settings. Kimberly has experience playing before small and large audiences, and even though this is the first music she has ever released, she has already received interest from First Avenue Records and Orgasmatron in London. Miss Kat looks forward to collaborating with unique individuals who are looking to nurture and be nurtured by her unique talents.
