Press Reviews
Pulse Magazine, Minneapolis, MN
What we have here, dear reader, are unapologetic metalheads. From the depths of the musty basement right into your face, they ride ghost horses like the furies from Hell. It would seem that Dan Cleveland, who plays guitar and sings, is the mastermind. He is joined in this unholy endeavor by Sean Cassidy And Jonathan Mortenson on drums.
These guys use every cliche in the book and it works. They have the myth and the magic, all they lack is the hammer of the Gods. However, that too may be forthcoming if they stick to their guns. This record is about BIG METAL! It has all the attendant sonic flourishes that the metal fan expects and it comes damn close to metal perfection. The mix could be hotter, the guitars a bit thicker. Watch these guys. Check out the show if you can. A true document of an up and coming garage band putting in time and hard work.

City Pages Magazine "A list" review" Minneapolis, MN
You may remember Dark Horse bandleader Dan Cleveland as the driven, questionably inspired Ur-metalgeek of Driver 23, the classic 1998 rock doc that chronicled
the agonies of making an album no one leaving the theater expected to hear. Well, here it is, and you may be surprised how ripe the fruits of all that obsessive
labor have turned out to be. The band's self-released, aptly titled "Guts Before Glory" might sound at first like crunchy epic metal at its most overdramatic
(kickoff anthem: "Who Watches the Watchmen?"). But the seven-minute rock arias actually hold interest, and Cleveland's quavering wail is appealingly unmannered- he
sounds like a metal Grant Hart. Whether this amounts to a poignant debut/swan song or a preview of better things to come, don't miss this rare celebratory gig.
