Artist History
devonBRYANT ,salvatoreDELLARIA and nathanMOOMAW made a record together out of a shared desire to
inject more warmth and realism into the stale field of digital music. it occurred to them that most of
the "clicks & cuts" school of musicians created and completed their records all within their harddrive ,never
allowing the sound to exist in realtime ,keeping the noises sealed in the microspace between microprocessors.
to avoid this ,blush/blend aim to have digital processes be the instrument only ,while analog tape and
microphones are used to capture the sounds in real places ,reflecting off of real surfaces. in this sense ,the
computer tracks are like a guitarpick ,and the acoustic environments are like the string ,one playing the
other before being committed to either 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch analog tape. their first session was improvised live
with no edits other than track spacing (which was done with tape and paper). the songs were built on the fly
using the mixing desk as an arrangement tool. the space used was the Art Institute of Seattle.s Studio A ,a
medium sized room which provided numerous nooks and crannies to use. planned spaces to explore in
the future include indoor/outdoor perspectives of houses ,bridges and tunnels ,and italian restaurants. |
