    Artist History
As far back as middle school, Jeff would study music magazines and CD covers, dreaming of the day that he would be a famous musician. He sang in his school chorus in the tiny town of Fairlee, Vermont, where he took a year of piano before discovering his true musical passion: guitar. Jeff’s mom dusted off the case of her worn six-string and taught her son the common chords and fingerings. Almost immediately, Jeff began building a repertoire of songs he learned by ear from the radio. Graduation from eighth grade brought Jeff gifts in the form of his first electric guitar and amplifier. He took guitar lessons twice a week and quickly developed his composition abilities using just the amp and a simple tape-recorder. And he spent his evenings at home recording with equipment he rented from a local music store, all the while continuing to sing in high school chorus. The recording process was arduous - Jeff first laid down his guitar tracks, then added the bass line with either a rented synthesizer or a borrowed bass guitar. When the bass line was established, Jeff painstakingly added the keyboards and, finally, the vocals. He toiled for hours, leaving his parents to stare at his empty place at the dinner table. Jeff’s final year in high school brought progress with his compositions and big decisions about his future. He joined Jazz Band in addition to chorus and discovered MIDI recording through computer sequencing programs such as Musicshop 2.0. He was in heaven creating more elaborate synthesizer tracks with drums and effects that he used as background to his vocals and keyboarding. Specific musical styles such as industrial, techno and alternative were Jeff’s biggest influences and he created his own blend of these elements. He sent these early compositions to a handful of labels and when he didn’t receive any feedback from them, Jeff was even more determined to get heard. That fall he went to the University of Dayton as a musical composition major. At Dayton Jeff took private voice lessons and training in musical theory and aural skills. He also continued with a course in MIDI composition and in piano. Jeff constantly utilized the multi-track digital audio and MIDI recording computer software, Cakewalk, and is proficient in this program. Concerned that his composition classes were too restrictive for application in his own pieces, Jeff switched his major to voice. He learned about voice control and proper singing posture and gained experience performing. Encouraged by a professor, Jeff participated in National Association of Teachers of Singers where he was required to sing in front of a panel of judges. Despite being happy with his change of majors, Jeff felt there was something missing - what he was studying wasn’t satisfying his desire to compose his own style of music. He felt the coursework was steering him into a career of more classic music than what he truly loved. At the end of freshman year, Jeff packed up and headed back to New England. Throughout the next year, Jeff devoted much of his spare time and all of his spare money to acquiring the components of a “studio” setup where he can really develop his compositions. With each new piece of equipment Jeff extended his ability to create a more thorough, professional sound. As Jeff improved the quality of his compositions he decided he wanted to be in a location where there would be more opportunities. His sister was living in Baltimore at the time, so he decided that was a good start. After moving to Baltimore and finding a solid income, Jeff became freinds with several Mc's that he had met at work. One Mc in particuler would spend hours on the weekends at Jeff's apartment studio working with him on Hip-Hop songs that they wrote together. This went on for about a year, and they managed to get together two proffesional quality tracks. Things were looking good until Jeffs lifestyle was abruptly changed when the large fiber-optics company he was working for started huge layoffs due to the economy. Jeff once again, had to reconsiter his future plans. It was then that he made the decision to attend a Piano Technology school in Atlanta, GA to become a Piano Tuner. Upon moving to Atlanta, Jeff attended school five days a week for about five hours a day. In the afternoons he would work on his own compositions and browse the internet for local record label listings. After a short period of time, Jeff got together a demo and sent it to Shut Eye Records, a local label specializing in pop/alternative music. Within two weeks the label responded with an email saying that they would like to work wih him. After a meeting with the label boss, Jeff was asked to place a song on the labels next compilation called "Buzzlighter 2, The Machines That Feed Us". They liked Jeff's composition so much that they decided to put it as number three on a Cd of 22 songs. This compilation eventually made it onto the playlists of over 65 college and satellite radio stations nationwide. The program director from one college station in Oregon liked Jeff's song so much, that he actually called the label to commend Jeff;s work. This was Jeff's first record label deal in his career and this gave him new hope. Since then, Jeff has received attention from a California production company for two of his compositions and he is currently discussing they're use in an upcoming movie with the music director. Jeff continues to do what he loves most every day and is now actively looking for a publisher and/or major label attention.
